For the service project for the 2019 Annual Conference, WACUBO has partnered with YNOTFORTOTS, a Vancouver charity, whose mission is to provide British Columbia elementary schools with the educational and recreational resources to maximize their students’ capacity to play, to learn and grow.
WACUBO and YNOTFORTOTS identified 4 Vancouver area schools (Lord Selkirk, Captain James Cook, Lord Roberts Elementary Schools and χpey̓ Elementary School, Vancouver’s only indigenous-focused school) which have requested specific educational, occupational and sensory tools for their classrooms.
The talented team of WACUBO volunteers from UC Irvine, led by the Assistant Director for Educational Partnerships Patricia Anderson, and Simon Fraser University, led by Chief Commercial Services Officer Mark McLaughlin, has worked with YNOTFORTOTs Co-Founders Mohit Sodhi and Lindsay Richter to understand how WACUBO can help.
YNOTFORTOTS identified the classroom supplies that are among the highest priorities for supporting Vancouver's deserving students.
WACUBO Members and Business Partners are asked to help reach our two goals:
To collect $10,000 worth of school supplies (pre-ordered through SFU or brought to the conference); and,
To collect one University youth-sized t-shirt/sweatshirt from each attendee that will be displayed during the WACUBO conference and presented to χpey̓ Principal Rose MacKenzie during the Member Appreciation Lunch.
